Who We Are

Founded in 2017 by Alison and David Cohen, the Cohen Defense Group, Inc. has grown into the largest private criminal defense firm in the Sierra, with offices in Auburn, Roseville, Nevada City, and Truckee, California. Our team of attorneys includes two State Bar-Certified Criminal Law Specialists and has been recognized repeatedly by Super Lawyers Magazine, Sacramento Magazine, and Sactown Magazine for excellence in criminal defense.

Cohen Defense Group History

We began our legal careers in the 1990s at a well-established criminal defense practice in Auburn, California. When the owner retired in 2016, we took over the firm. Our dream of marshaling the best legal talents in California to create a five-star criminal defense team has now come to fruition in the Cohen Defense Group, Inc., and we couldn’t be prouder. Charges Avoided

When my client was arrested for domestic violence, I had my investigator interview the alleged victim about what really happened. I submitted that statement, along with positive information about my client, to the DA and they decided not to file any charges.

Case Dismissed

My client was charged with felony car theft. At preliminary hearing I was able to convey to the DA that my client had no idea that the car had been reported stolen. The DA dismissed the case.

Elder Abuse Case Dismissed

After a preliminary hearing on felony financial elder abuse charges, the judge granted my motion to dismiss all charges.

Diversion Granted

Roy Park

My 19-year-old client faced multiple charges, both misdemeanor and felony. During the time of the charged incidents, he had begun to struggle with symptoms of a serious mental health diagnosis. Prior to the mental health issue, he had no record so I asked to put him in a mental health diversion program. We argued the issue in court and the judge agreed. My client is now receiving treatment, has a job, and is doing well. By complying with treatment, he will earn a dismissal of all charges and have a clean record going forward.
