The Placer County Region

Auburn, California is a California Historical Landmark, best known for its California Gold Rush heritage. The arrival of the Central Pacific Railroad in 1865 connected the town to the First Transcontinental Railroad, further shaping its growth. Anchored by the historic Placer County Courthouse, Auburn reflects the character of Placer County, a region known for its healthy economy, good schools, safe neighborhoods, and abundant recreational opportunities. With the Sierra Nevada foothills and the confluence of the North and Middle Forks of the American River, the area’s beauty and history continue to define the community and those who live and work here.
